flash stickman
I had to share this very clever animation with you. Animator vs animation
I know this looks like some poor designer who is bored, but I believe it couldn’t be further from the truth. It looks like that there has been some integral planning involved to deliver a fun and inspiring animation.
Motorola
Motorola wanted a comprehensive exhibition stand that incorporated the world of mobile. I worked very closely with there marketing team who were based on the west coast of America to deliver the stand here in the UK.
Vodafone
The brief was to build relationships between Vodafone’s b2b customers by inviting more customers onto their scheme. We used the iconic metal balls smashing into each other, and as they work a long the line so do they change into red metal balls thus giving the impression of building a relationships.
Nivio
Nivio is a cloud based computer company based in India. As part of the branding exercise I designed a website and a blog to help explain the idea behind taking your pc desktop anywhere in the world with you. The video on the home page is designed to help explain in a visual representation how the consumer will use the product. To view the site click here
Here is an example of the blog page in keeping with the brand and style. To view the blog click here
Spilt Pupil
Spilt Pupil is a rapper based in Bristol. As part of a longterm branding exercise I was asked to design a website that incorporates his music, video and webstore. Not only did I show his music ability but I also incorporated an events page and a image library – all built in silverstripe which is a content managed system. He is now able to upload and take down video and music to his hearts content. To view the site click here
The Co-operative
The good with money site was designed with the intent to show both sides of the co-operative – good with money and good with ethical values. The easiest way was to flip a coin, but not to come across as gambling was a task in its own right. To view the site click here
cloud storage
Cloud computing has become an everyday occurrence for most of us. But did you know that the idea started back in 1960? Unbelievable I know!
I just wanted to share with you ways in which we can store data etc. online. Most of us are familiar with the likes of facebook, youtube and flickr. I wanted to draw your attention to some alternatives – zumo drive / zumo cast and dropbox.
Zumo drive / zumo cast are compatible with mac and windows. They have iPhone and Android apps available too. Essentially it is a hardrive in the clouds, you can put anything up there. Of course there is a limit, but there is a paid for option as well, see http://www.zumodrive.com/. I think that the clever side of zumo drive is its sister company zumo cast, giving the ability for a user to stream media directly to there iPhone from there computer. See for yourself at http://www.zumocast.com/ - just brilliant!
Dropbox on the other hand is a great bit of online syncing storage, compatible like zumo. http://www.dropbox.com/. It is free like Zumo but till a certain extent. They have a great sharing community for files and we often use it in the office as a quick go between the macs. Its easy to use and very user friendly.
I would recommend both, actually have both – I use them equally as a great way to share files and keep items safe out of the home and office.
FBML and being social
FBML is the code language set for facebook, it is similar to html but with a couple of extra little add-ons. It means that you can now have a mini web page within facebook.
Promoting your business on facebook is the future. If this is of some interest to you, then get in contact either on the home page or by filling out the message box below, and I will gladly help you in your designs and coding to get the best possible creative for you and your business. At the same time, why not incorporate rss feeds and twitter apps, making facebook the hub of all your social marketing. Not only can I help here but also across other platforms, with other social areas like linkedin.
So get in contact and start benefiting!
Skype beta 5 VS Face time

Im a massive lover of all things Mac, but I think this time Skype have introduced something a bit special. If quality of content is not what your looking for then Skype is the answer.
The new beta 5 version introduces multiple video conferencing with a better UX – I hear you say nothing new there but what is very interesting and especially useful if you are working from home or doing online presentations is the “view desktop” aspect. This means that the viewer can see what you are doing on your desktop, whether its a presentation or a tutorial. It is great for getting your content across to people, and if you are a visual person like me its great!.
Skype however still falls down on quality where facetime exceeds…

Facetime has the ability to keep the quality high because it knows that the cameras being used are either HD quality or high quality video cameras ie MAC. They will always have the advantage until ALL computers will be using HD cameras and great connections. The answer for Facetime is to include the desktop feature.
Skype is still universally great for both Mac and PC.
cms
Hi this week Im looking at and talking about Content Managed Sytems – CMS for short. At omega3design I have used two main types; WordPress and Silverstripe. Both of which have there advantages and disadvantages. I know that there are many more like Joomla etc. But ill discuss these two, as they are more familiar to me.

Lets start with WordPress. WordPress is essentially a system used for blogging. However as of the last 2-3 years we have noticed a change in its usage – more and more people are using it for businesses and charities. It has become an easy tool for people to grab free “themes” and try and make them there own. The advantages are with wordpress is that it is cheaper to setup, however this can also be a massive disadvantage. When looking for a “theme” or getting a web designer to create you one, it becomes apparent that you are slightly restricted, but if that doesnt bother you carry on. Unfortunately wordpress has become so common that it has become easy to hack – so please be careful. Why not try and see for yourself – http://wordpress.org/

Ok Silverstripe – not really common to alot of us but an excellent and powerful web cms tool. Like wordpress it does have its themes but its real advantages are how much more diverse your designs can be. I prefer this as a cms if the client afford to pay. As this cms becomes more and more common there is also the great online support. So if your a web designer like me or a marketer looking for that extra special something – I believe this is worth a try – check out http://www.silverstripe.com/.
